Norma Coyne

Tenor Drummer from Claremont, California

Norma is The Band's "first lady" as the wife of Pipe Major Seumas Coyne. Norma's drumming instructors and influences over the years have come from such players as Kim Wolach, Charlie Capperauld, Alan Savage, Lisa Frasier, Allison Porch, and Andrew Hoinacki. She has played in a number of bands including the Gordon Highlanders, Los Angeles Highlanders and City of Glendale Pipe Band. Norma took some time away from band participation as she raised three children - Briana, Sarah and James - and also administrated the family import, piping and teaching businesses. She has now returned to band membership as a tenor drummer with JJCMPB beginning in late 2007 and is also heavily involved in the operations and fundraising efforts of The Band and the James J Coyne Memorial School of Piping and Drumming.
