Mary Ellen Read

Piper from Whitehorse, Yukon Canada

Mary Ellen Read started playing at the age of 8, under the tutelage of Morag Jamison, a former student of PM Sam Scott. She is originally from Ottawa, Canada, and has played with a variety of bands, including the Ottawa Police Pipe Band and the Pipes of the Ceremonial Guard on Parliament Hill. She relocated to Alaska in 2007 and played with Crow Creek Pipes and Drums. She currently lives in a cabin near Whitehorse, Yukon. Mary Ellen joined JJCMPB in 2010.
